Root Canal Therapy
Dentistry for the Whole Family
WHAT IS A Root Canal?
Root canal treatment is an endodontic therapy our dentist may recommend if your tooth suffers from infection in the tooth pulp and nerves. The dental pulp and tooth nerves, which are located in the center of the tooth, can cause a significant amount of pain and sensitivity when injured or infected. If left untreated, this infection can eventually kill the tooth and necessitate tooth extraction. In order to avoid the need for extraction, we will remove the infected tissues from within the tooth. After thoroughly cleaning the tooth, your dentist will fill the tooth with a rubber-like, medicated material that helps to alleviate pain, treat the infection, and restore the tooth’s inner structure. Finally, the tooth is covered with a filling or dental crown to restore its shape and function.
Do I need a root canal?
We may suggest root canal treatment if your tooth is affected by a serious injury or infection. A root canal in Anchorage, Juneau, and North Pole, Alaska, can help to prevent the infection from spreading to the other healthy areas of your mouth. Intense tooth pain, severe tooth sensitivity, and tender, swollen gums are all signs of tooth infection. If you notice these symptoms, or if you experience any other type of dental pain, we urge you to contact us at Alaska Dental Arts. We are committed to restoring your oral health.
